730 Expert You always have the right to your own expert to testify on your behalf. Upon the proper Motion to the court, the court may determine that an expert is needed for the courts assistance. This can reduce costs, if both parties agree to rely on the court's expert to determine, let's say, the value of the community business, then you would only have to pay for one expert instead of each party having their own expert and thereby doubling expert costs. This expert appointed by the court to assist the court is appointed under Evidence Code 730, hence the name. Be prepared to contribute some or all of the cost of a 730 expert. |
